“But seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.” – Matthew 6:33
This passage was taught to those who had no idea where their next meal was coming from. Even then Jesus tells his disciples not to worry how God will provide for them, but to focus on his kingdom. As long as we are within the kingdom of God, everything we need to sustain us will be provided.
I think we all understand the general inference; however, I believe this can be built upon. Our focus here is on the kingdom and not on chasing money. Our focus is on stewarding our money.
Christians should be focused on stewarding what they have and not chasing after more. More money is never the goal, but better stewardship is. When our focus is on stewardship, we are aligned with God’s will.
Chasing more money is a trap. Anytime we need more provision, God desires for us to go to him and ask for his provision. If we take matters into our own hands, our vision becomes distorted and our focus is not on the kingdom.
God doesn’t ask you to do anything that you do not have the resources for. Anything that requires more money that you don’t have requires you to go to God first. The only thing God promises is to provide for what you need to accomplish the task He has planned for you.
Remember, steward what you have faithfully and be content with that. When it is time for more resources, he will give you more resources.
